About Matthew
I’m someone who likes to make sense of things—especially when they’re messy. Professionally, that’s shown up through my work in education, instructional coaching, and, more recently, data analytics. I currently work at a statewide virtual school where I support teachers and leaders by analyzing performance data, building tools and dashboards, and helping teams move from “here’s the data” to “here’s what we should actually do next.”
What I enjoy most about data work isn’t just the analysis itself, but the clarity it can bring. I’ve spent years translating complex information for non-technical audiences—students, teachers, administrators, and leadership teams—and helping them make confident, informed decisions. Along the way, I’ve built a strong foundation in Excel, SQL, R, Tableau, and Google Sheets, and I continue to sharpen those skills through the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate, graduate-level coursework in data analytics through Georgia Tech on edX, and hands-on project work.
My long-term goal is to grow into more advanced analytics and data science work, but always with a practical, real-world mindset. I’m most drawn to problems where data can reduce noise, surface patterns, and guide action—not just produce reports that sit on a shelf.
Outside of work, I’m a husband and a dad of three, and family plays a big role in how I think about career decisions and success. I value consistency, discipline, and steady progress—whether that’s training for a race, building healthier routines, or learning new technical skills. I care about doing meaningful work, communicating clearly, and building things that genuinely help people, not just look impressive on paper.
